Position overview

The International Admissions Team wishes to appoint a permanent International Student Admissions Advisors who wants to make a difference.

We are seeking participatory and positive team member who will bring an enthusiastic approach to their work environment. You will belong to a team that assesses international student applications for admission to the University. You will be providing programme and admission advice to prospective students, sponsors, and external agencies.

To be successful in your appointment to this role you will have demonstrated time management skills, strong interpersonal skills, and an eye for detail. You will excel in a high output environment and contribute to a productive team who are committed to the challenge of growing Massey's diverse international student enrolment.

Purpose statement

To be part of a team responsible for processing international student admission applications, from initial assessment to conversion, and to provide admission advice, and effective communication with, prospective students, external agencies, and organisation. To meet the operational objectives of the International Office as they relate to the University’s internationalisation strategy and the International Office planning.

Key accountabilities

1.0 INTERNATIONAL STUDENT APPLICATION PROCESSING
1.1 Assess and process international student admissions for English language, pre-degree, undergraduate and postgraduate University programmes, in a timely and efficient manner within agreed KPIs.
1.2 Assess applications by applying the current entry criteria, taking responsibility for particular cohorts or programmes as required.
1.3 Process applications according to International Office objectives and priorities.
1.4 Provide current and timely information and advice to prospective students, sponsors, agents, and other organisations regarding international student admission.
1.5 Proactively seek ways to convert the students you manage.
1.6 Maintain accurate, well-organised records of admissions, including tracking and reporting systems, and provide statistical reports relating to assigned area/s of responsibility, as required
2.0 PROGRAMME AND ADMISSION ADVICE
2.1 Provide appropriate first level programme, admission, pathway and tuition fee advice to international students, their parents, sponsors, representatives and other internal and external clients of the International Office, in a responsive, proactive and positive manner.
2.2 Respond to counter, phone and email enquiries promptly, efficiently and effectively.
2.3 Keep informed of current developments in International Education, including emerging trends and current issues impacting on Massey University.
3.0 ADVICE AND LIAISON WITH UNIVERSITY STAFF AND CLIENTS
3.1 Provide advice and liaise with College administrative and academic staff with respect to international student admissions.
3.2 Provide advice and support for International Marketing and Recruitment staff, and liaise with International Student Support staff and other Massey staff as required.
3.3 Ensure that all communications on behalf of Massey University are clear, correct and appropriate.
4.0 DEVELOPMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSES
4.1 Work as part of a team to contribute to ongoing review and implementation of international student admissions processes, to maximise efficiency and effectiveness.
4.2 Update internal reference documentation as required and ensure that standard operating procedures are current.
5.0 OTHER DUTIES
5.1 Undertake other duties on behalf of the Manager International Admissions, as and when required.
5.2 Represent the International Office at internal meetings as required.
5.3 Contribute to the ongoing review and updating of information for all International Office publications and information, including the International Office website.

Person specification

Qualifications

A tertiary qualification is preferred but not essential. However, previous study in, or knowledge of, a tertiary education environment is desirable.

Experience

Knowledge of the international education environment is desirable.

- Demonstrated high level computer skills, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel, and ability to adapt to Massey University software.

- Maturity and flexibility to cope with a variety of work pressures and tasks.
- Highly organised and effective time management skills and ability to work under minimum supervision.
